Police investigating alleged cyberbullying of Timpview High students

Police and school officials in Provo are investigating an investigation of cyberbullying involving Timpview Kids on Instagram.









Police and school officials are investigating a written report of cyberbullying involving Timpview High School students about the popular picture social media network Instagram.

The page included the hashtag "whorelistnumber" and lists pictures of ladies, presumed for being Timpview Students, using a number ranking. A number of the comments left under each picture make degrading sexual references and may even rise towards level of bullying.

The page's creator posted some text nevertheless: "It is really an updated go through the girls of Timpview this academic year. This is just someone's opinion so don't get offended. Follow at your own risk."

After Instagram was notified of the list, it disappeared by reviewing the site.

Timpview Assistant Principal Ford White and his awesome daughter Madi were told concerning the site and were stunned to find out she was featured on the site.

"I didn't know until a pal came to me … she was like 'yeah, you're on there," said Madi, a sophomore at Timpview High. "

Madi was relieved to see should be genuine about her weren't as cruel, but the Instagram account was filled up with disparaging comments.

"We were looking at calling it 'the whore list,' and stuff, and that i just feel as if which was uncalled for," she said. "The fact they are able to hide behind the social websites, I'm that adheres to that definitely encouraged those to say mean items like that, given that they would probably never say that thus to their face."

Provo City School District officials said these folks were made aware of the web site on Wednesday and were investigating.

"Provo City School District is focused on prevent bullying, including cyberbullying in this schools, and providing a secure environment for our students. This matter has been searched into and even more information is usually provided in a future point," said district spokesman Caleb Price.

Students and staff with the school were on fall break. Provo police confirmed Thursday they've already launched their very own investigation.

Timpview has specific rules against cyberbullying, and Ford White keeps a few social media marketing accounts assured of keeping watch for problems between students. It is a new kind of bullying, he said, even so the intent hasn't changed.

"It's only another medium, another form to come up with that kind of offensive language or offensive targeting of kids," he explained.

Ford White worries that this instigators behind the bullying are facing his or her "crisis" and wish help.

Looking of Instagram accounts shows there are lots of associated with Timpview Secondary school, including pages for Timpview's "sexiest," "cutest couple," "stud muffins" and "hot guys." The majority of the comments are complimentary instead of all have the symptoms of bullying remarks.

Teens posting pictures of the peers persons to reply to is not exclusive to Timpview High school graduation or maybe Instagram. There's also Instagram pages of students from Orem and Mountain View high schools.
