University of Utah school of law celebrates a century
SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah's S.J. Quinney College of Law is turning a century old this Friday and school officials are intending a symposium and gala in celebration from the milestone.
Friday's symposium, that's liberal to everyone but registration is requested, will be held Friday from noon to 2 p.m. inside College of Law's Sutherland Moot Courtroom. Former Utah law professor and U.S. Appellate court Judge Micheal McConnell will work as the keynote speaker for your symposium, that may feature the college's most influential scholarship over the last hundred years.
An evening gala will follow the symposium on the Natural History Museum of Utah. A small volume of tickets can be found by contacting the college.
"Were immensely satisfied with the contributions produced by the institution of Law and it is alumni during our first century and it's time to celebrate those achievements," interim Dean Bob Adler said in a very prepared statement. "As we look forward to the completion your innovative new zero in 2015, it's only fitting we also honor the individuals that have shaped the school as well as legacy of excellence in legal education, plan to the city and engaged scholarship."
Founded in 2013, legislation school first occupied a space inside Salt Lake City and County Building before moving towards Park Building within the U. campus in 1914. It later gone after its current location in 1963 and was renamed honoring S.J. "Joe" Quinney in 2001 after receiving an endowment in the S.J. and Jessie E. Quinney Foundation.
In June, officials broke ground on the new home to the school of law, located adjacent to Rice-Eccles Stadium in the southwest entrance for the U.
The S.J. Quinney College of Law was ranked 41st inside latest U.S. News and World Report rankings of law schools near you. It tied while using law colleges of George Mason University and the University of Maryland and ranked just ahead of its Utah County rival, the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University.
